RACISM IS IN THE EYE OF THE USPTO EXAMINER: THE SKINNY ON THE SLANTS: (c) Carrie Devorah
_____________________________________________________
The same week FENCES hit the theatres, it was announced THE SLANTS would be hitting the big time, facetime before the SUPREMES, the Supreme Court of the United States. The lawgivers are set to look down on a decision deciding if a band has the right to brand itself, ethnically.
A USPTO examiner said no.
Hmmmm. From where I sit? Racism is in the eye of the beholder, in this case, the USPTO examiner that ruled THE SLANTS is racist against Asians.
BUT THE SLANTS ARE ASIANS with no malice intended or taken by themselves or their fans, just, by a faceless examiner.
USPTO examiners are not nameless. Just faceless. One must do diligence and profile the examiner to grasp how the hell the USPTO has approved "n" words but not this band brand that calls it like they sees it themselves, so to speak.
Is the USPTO examiner Asian? Then off with their head and hands on this matter, possibly imprinting their own experiences in to a group of lovelies that hang to bang, sing and croon.
Does the USPTO examiner eat Chinese? OMG. Enough of a reason to cite them as murderous terroristic inclining S.O.B.s barred from ruminating over the validity of this claim?
Does the USPTO examiner vote Left, Right or down the middle or not at all? A left voting USPTO examiner on this matter then has a political tether to this issue that had Democrat legislators arm in arm marching for a moving news moment down Independence Avenue on the issue of the Redskins trademark? As I said to someone this evening, that was all about Dan. Dan Snyder someone became the bar mitzvah boy that grew in to a football team owner that everyone loves to beat up on. Dan has made it fun for malicious people in that Dan's legal beagles had no spine to say 'uh uh uh' to legislators who on the one hand craft bills against bullying then with the other hand march the median with a giant ceremonious gavel in hand.

Even Google images shows SLANT with out Asian pics. What the hell was the USPTO examiner thinking? And I do hope I get a piece of the take home cut the legal team representing THE SLANTS gets when they sue the USG, head of the USPTO and the examiner for racism, restraint of trade, mental anguish and a damn waste of taxpayer time when even Google images does not have Asians come to mind with the word, WORD, wordmark THE SLANTS [ https://www.google.com/search?q=slant&biw=1338&bih=637&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjPq-G74KnRAhUmzoMKHV8jA9oQ_AUIBigB ]
With Slant in both the Yellow Pages (and White pages) and in the Dictionary then, I rest my case.... sue the damn examiner and stop activism from government employees who are supposed to put the staple in and pull the staple out- not legislate or regulate from a neutered agency allowed only to do what Congress's laws tell it to do, nothing more, like.... think racist interpretations.....
Besides with whois.com showing slants.com registered as a domain name, gTld in 1999 and theslants.com registered as a domain name, gTld in 2007, the USPTO decision is moot anyways, isnt it, after all, the internet purposed under the ICANN cartel to disrupt business, trademarks, copyrights and patents since 1998 (and unofficially sooner), then what is the agenda of the USPTO examiner anyways?
Give the band back their filing fees (and everyone else too) and pay their lawyers legal fees and the rest of us an apology for selling a product warranty that is out of it's protection purpose.....
And when bored? Go see FENCES. Count the "N" word..... you and I cant use, but in the name of Art? Hmmmm, isnt a band of Asians artists too?
Have a good one..................................................
